Where is Gwinnett County? Founded in 1818, Gwinnett County is a suburban county of Atlanta, Georgia. In 2019, the population was close to a million. Actually, the population count was 9367,000, making it the second-most populous county in Georgia.



The county is named for Button Gwinnett, one of the signatories of the Declaration of Independence. Gwinnett County has 16 cities. The county maintains a regional airport - Gwinnett County Airport, formerly Briscoe Field. Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport is the nearest major airport for Gwinnett County.

The county was established in 1818, and the first courthouse was built in the city of Lawrenceville in 1821. Throughout the nineteenth century, Gwinnett County used to be particularly an agricultural region, with cotton being the foremost crop. However, after the Civil War, the county's economic system shifted toward manufacturing, and the county grew to become a hub for material production.

Within Gwinnett County are the cities of Auburn, Berkeley Lake, Braselton, Buford, Dacula, Duluth, Dunwoody, Grayson, Lawrenceville, Lilburn, Loganville, Norcross, Peachtree Corners, Rest Haven, Snellville, Sugar Hill, and Suwanee. Lawrenceville is the county seat of Gwinnett County.

Gwinnett County has a diverse population, with a combine of various ethnicities and cultures. According to the most latest census data, the county is 43% White, 29% Black, 22% Hispanic, and 6% Asian. The biggest metropolis in the county is Lawrenceville, which has a populace of over 30,000 people.

Gwinnett County has a robust economy, with a combine of both large corporations and small businesses. The county is home to a number of major companies, such as NCR Corporation, Primerica, and Scientific Games. The biggest enterprise in the county is healthcare, with numerous giant hospitals and healthcare structures placed in the area.
